( CHARACTER INFORMATION )
- ★ NAME: Elrond Half-Elven
- ★ AGE: 6,440; appears to be in his 40s
- ★ CANON POINT: End of 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' - fresh from a patrol
- ★ CANON INFORMATION: Elrond

- ★ PERSONALITY: Elrond and those of Imladris (Rivendell, in the tongue of Men) are generally welcoming to all who visit their valley, giving proper hospitality unless grievously insulted. However, as one of the last protectors of Middle-Earth, Elrond keeps a close eye on all that happens with the aid of his Foresight. If he can assist in keeping peace, he will. If he can give advice, he will, as he is considered one of the wisest of the elves (other than the lady Galadriel herself, naturally). He is exceptionally giving and caring, though only as far as keeping his kin and those he looks after safe.

Elrond has a sense of humor, as well, rather enjoying playing innocent/harmless tricks on some guests where he might not so much with others. One example is with some dwarven guests, he had nothing but greens served as a meal for the meat-loving troop despite elves eating meat as well as plants (superb hunters). He invited the dwarves to eat by speaking in a tongue he knew they would not know, knowing full well they would believe him cursing them or giving insult (something he would not actually do without good reason).

This playful aspect of Elrond extends to earnest goodwill to the point where he does not take insult easily - especially when he is well aware of insult being unintentional. An example of this is when the dwarf Thorin Oakenshield (and his party to a degree) give purposeful insult. He lets that slide as there is plenty of friction between their kinds, and he has no desire to add to it. In addition to aiding Thorin by reading the map needed, he gave the dwarven party ponies and supplies (at least in the book.)

He is very much a father figure, extending beyond his own three children. This is due largely to his age, as he is older than most people he deals with on a regular basis. He loves his family and his people dearly. His wife, Celebrian's departure due to being unable to endure after unspeakable torture struck a sharp blow, but Elrond remained behind to hold his place in Middle-Earth as one of the few remaining protectors against the Darkness. Always left behind, until the very end, but it never affected how he acted towards those around him. Always holding the poise and kind bearing one of his position should have.

Elrond is exceptionally courageous, strong, and resilient. He fought in the Last Alliance and survived despite all odds. Unfortunately due to the events after that battle, Elrond is wary of just how strong that mortal race of Men became, and became reluctant to help as it may harm his kin when their strength was already waning. He knew well how the Age of the Elves was ending, giving rise to the Age of Men. There was little he felt he could do that he had not already done. Elrond is exceptionally strong, both as a warrior, a leader, and a Healer. This is due largely to his long life of experiences, full of both hardship and joy (family and kin passing to the West). Despite everything he has lived through, he does not allow the tragedies to define him - instead, they strengthened him and allow him to keep going through everything life throws at him.

Once he left his warrior days behind to focus on healing, he became an even more accomplished Healer. Adding to this respect for fixing injuries of the body, his regard for the arts is clear to all. Musically, he generally plays the harp, though it stands to reason he is accomplished with other instruments. Song and music was often to be heard around Imladris, especially while entertaining guests. Hospitality of the elves was well known across Middle-Earth. As for the physical arts, Imladris was full of paintings and sculptures, depicting the history of Middle-Earth so events and sacrifices of all would never be forgotten or dismissed as a lie or myth.

Despite his age, Elrond moves like a young man in the prime of life. He is always moving, though generally subtle movements when he's in a meeting, and only utterly still when deep in thought or concentrating on something. He shows respect to his elders (what few there are) also by subtle gestures, even if he might have a slight smirk to show he is amused by something he expects to happen.
- ★ COURT ALLIANCE: Seelie
Elrond fits here because he is a bit of both Lawful and Neutral Good in the alignment charts. The code the knights of the Seelie court is in essence, what Elrond believes in. 'A knight is sworn to valour. My heart knows only virtue. My blade defends the helpless. My might upholds the weak. My word speaks only truth. My wrath undoes the wicked.' He does not lie, he values honor and protecting those who cannot defend themselves.

He is described as 'strong as a warrior, as wise as a wizard, as venerable as a king of dwarves, and as kind as summer.' And his house is described as 'perfect, whether you like food, or sleep, or work, or story-telling, or or singing, or just sitting and thinking best, or a pleasant mixture of them all.'
- ★ ABILITIES: 'Elrond was a skillful warrior in battle and had commanded various armies of the Free Peoples well, including the Last Alliance. He was just as effective at leadership and gave much wise counsel. He had the gift of foresight through which he could view lands and events far away from Imladris. He was also adept at healing others, though whether through medical knowledge or magic isn't known.

Elrond was one of the most incorruptible of leaders of Middle-earth. Aragorn [later] speculated that among the few capable of completely resisting Saruman's power of speech were Elrond, Galadriel, and Gandalf. Elrond also rejected and opposed Sauron when the latter offered partnership with the Elves.' [Character wiki page direct quoted]

In addition, elves are resistant to aging, disease, and inebriation, though death through violence or injury to the spirit is possible. They do not technically have to sleep. Their senses are better than that of Men and they are able to travel long distances without much food or rest, leaving no tracks be the travel over snow - being light of foot.

Elrond is well learned and studied, his memory excellent, and he is well-versed in many languages, both written and spoken. (He is one of the few who can read moon runes.)

His horsemanship is exceptional, as to be expected from his kind, and knows the ways of the world and nature. He can ride hard and long, and not appear tired.
- ★ INVENTORY: His riding armor, Vilya (the strongest of the three Elvish rings of power) on a chain around his neck next to his gold wedding ring, elvish crown and clasp holding cloak in place at his throat and shoulders, sword, and horse.
